Welcome to this year’s tournament

The Annual Newmarket House League Hockey Tournament is the longest continually running house league hockey tournament in Ontario! March 18th to 21st, 2020, we are celebrating our 54th year!

Important Update from the Committee

With these unprecedented circumstances that are affecting us all over the World, it is with regret, yet careful consideration for our well-being that we fully support not just the OMHA, but many other Sport, Community, and Private bodies in cancelling this years event. We will follow the OMHA in their responsible actions to Suspend Hockey activities and keep our kids and families as safe as we can with this decision.

From our Committee to you, your Team, and their Families, please stay safe, practice good hygiene, and we hope to see you next year at our Tournament!

On behalf of the 54th Annual Newmarket HL Hockey Tournament

Message From the Committee

Folks: for now, we are looking at the World situation and following many other Sporting Leads who have gone on to eliminate fans from attending and having only immediate family. We will be going ahead with our event for now, as typically it is only family and friends attending – we do not get large crowds for games.

Due to public health concerns about the novel coronavirus, the Public Health Agency of Canada has posted guidelines aimed at helping event planners figure out whether to cancel gatherings of people as the federal government works to quell the potential spread of the novel coronavirus. The next best thing to stopping the virus completely is to slow it down and try to delay widespread community transmission as long as possible to ease the burden on the health-care system.

Please check back frequently for updates on COVID 19 and the effects it could have on the 54th Annual Newmarket House League Hockey Tournament. For now, we plan to move ahead as normal.

We encourage all coaches and managers to make players aware of the restroom areas and the importance of washing hands.

Registration is Now Closed

Good luck to all teams who will be playing in this year’s tournament.

The Newmarket HL Hockey Tournament Committee are Volunteers with no affiliation to any Minor Hockey Organizations. We do it for the pure love of the game and Volunteering.

We strive each year to provide an exceptional atmosphere for the HL level kids – who may not otherwise have such an opportunity.

We try to get better each year, and look forward to bringing the kids this Tournament for years to come!

In celebrating our 54th Year, we continue to find ways to improve our Tournament and offer the kids something special they may not receive elsewhere, including;

  1. Live Broadcast and play by play of all games – saved and accessible live or in future
  2. 3 game guarantee with a playoff game for all! Final game is A,B or C Championship.
  3. 2 games in one day to minimize the impact on parents taking time off work
  4. On-ice interviews and Coaches interviews during games!
  5. Official registration loot bag for all Players
  6. Awards for All Participants – after EVERY GAME!
  7. Boston Pizza Home Base and plenty of Team Offers for lunch, dinner or for fun!
  8. Online Registration for efficiency and ease on Team Manager

Our Tournament has stayed competitive by always ensuring the right mix of Municipalities.  We strive to give House League level players the same competitive environment that their Rep level friends enjoy.  Our Tournament goal is to ensure all Players have fun, compete, and leave with something tangible to remember their time at the Newmarket House League Hockey Tournament.

Game results are posted as they happen so you can easily follow your team’s progress. All the team rosters are available to help you follow the action.

We plan live coverage,  recorded games,  and other media content. We will once again be on YouTube Live and other social media! You can get the apps for iPhone, Android, and other mobile platforms. See our Live Streaming‘ pages and our links for this online content. Selected games will be carried by Roger’s Community Television (see schedule).

Once again, thank you for expressing interest in our tournament. We hope you enjoy participating in it as much as we enjoy putting it on for you each year!

To volunteer your time with our committee and its many roles, please contact us. Secondary school volunteer community service hours will be documented for applicable youth volunteers.
